I learned over the weekend that Rhea Jean Thompson Hollis passed away.  Rhea Jean was the daughter of Ralph and Valada Thompson.  Please keep her family in your prayers at this difficult time.

The cookbooks arrived this week!  The cost is $13.00.  Priority  Mail Envelope shipping is $4.95 + delivery confirmation $0.88.  I can fit up to 4 cookbooks in a legal size envelope.

To that end...We are just under a month away from the reunion.  Even if you can not attend- PLEASE still share.  I am noticing some gaps in families so I wanted to just put those names out there.   Current family photos are encouraged as well.

Thompson Family Reunion

Winding things up!

We are just 43 days from the reunion.  Wowsers! 

1. We are still collecting photos for the "scrapbook" -the price of these is yet to be determined as since they are still being compiled they haven't been printed then spiral bound.
2. Cookbooks are at the printer-they will be $13.00 each  once we receive them I will post both on here and facebook.  
3. Auction-we will need items.  Remember this reunion is not already funded.  We are starting from scratch here.  We are doing two things-paying for this one and establishing a fund for a future reunion.  It will take all of us to make this happen.
4. I have had some queries as to when to pay the suggested reunion donation-the answer is at the reunion.  
5.   Attendance-YOU are requested as this is about strengthening family ties.
6. We will have raffle prizes.  You HAVE to be present to win.  You will receive tickets with your "donation" then you can purchase additional tickets.   The Grand Prize Teaser below.

We have been taking advantage of Vistaprint offers as often as we can to make this a fun event.

As this blog is all about our "Thompson Family Ties"  I want to encourage anyone who wants to contribute to this blog to please let me know.  I will be sure to extend an invitation to be a contributor.

2 Month's and counting

We are now two months from the 2011 Thompson Family Reunion.  I have been loving Vistaprint.com and their amazing offers.  We will be able to put together some pretty neat door/raffle prizes (raffle tickets will be available for purchase-you will get 1 free raffle ticket with your reunion donation).


The family scrapbooks are coming along. However we are missing so many families.  Remember you are a part of this family so send in some current photos as well.  But off the top of my head, I need some photos from Lena Thompson Cooper's family, Floyd Thompson, Luwain Thompson, Delores Thompson Smedley.  Heck...send in pictures.  The more pictures the bigger the compilation we will be able to make.

Summer Brander Photography will be at the reunion.  She will be there for 2 hours.  We will be doing a large group photo.  She will also be able to take some family group photos-I know my grandfather has requested a "Rulen" family photo so this will be an exceptional time to do this.  The photos will be available for purchase directly from Summer.

Created a flickr group today, appropriately called Thompson Family Ties.  I wanted to have a place where we can share photos, old and new in preparation for the upcoming reunion.  I have the membership open at this time to where anyone can join.

Last Call-Recipes

Last Call for recipes. This is the last week we can accept recipes. I hope to have the email clandethompson@gmail.com overflowing with recipes.

Please let us know if you want a book. We want to be sure we have enough for everyone who wants one!

Recipes

We are in the final stretch for collecting recipes. I was really hoping we would have more contributions than we have had so far. In order to have a cookbook ready for the Family Reunion-We have to have the recipes by March 1, 2011!

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE contribute! We need at least 100 more recipes to compile a book.

Photographer

I have found a photographer for the Family Reunion. Summer with Summer Brander Photography

We will have her services for 2 hours. There will be a large group photo at 12:00, then she can do individual group photos after that.

Rulen Thompson Family-we will do a family photo at 11:30-Grandpa wants all his peeps there with bells on!

Summer will have the photos available for viewing and individual purchases directly from her website.

Postcards-Mailed!

Yup! these babies are going out in today's postal service! I only have about 60 addresses. So-hopefully this will start to spur some action ;o)

We are going to start needing some help with things for the day of the event.

Getting the word out

I have been working on trying to get the word out. I have ordered save the date cards-and will mail those out to the addresses I have.

I don't have a complete family contact list-so please even if you think I have your info-send it along.

Recipes-I really want us to have a successful cookbook-but I need your help-please send them in.

Do you have ideas or suggestions for the Family Reunion? We are open to them.
